The hunt camp consists of a
main lodge, a 14' trailer, generator shed, pump house, outdoor shower &
solar heater, utility & storage shed, outdoor fireplace, and outhouse.
The electrical 4.0 kilowatt generator supplies 110V AC to the main lodge
and the 14' trailer. The system is started up "as needed".
The pumphouse has a 500'
long water intake line from Lake Huron. The pumped water is passed
through a 3 stage filtration system (30 µ, 5µ, and finally 0.3µ) before
it is pumped to the storage tank in the lodge's attic. Finally,
treatment with sodium hypochlorite (chlorine) and testing ensures safe
drinking water. In addition, there is an outside raw water hand
pump for quick washing up.
The outdoor shower has a
solar heating panel with electrical heat backup for cloudy days; but it
still takes a "polar bear" attitude to take an outdoor shower in the
late fall. This is a guaranteed way to feel alive immediately
after.
The outdoor fireplace is
designed for cooking as well as a bonfire pit. Sitting around the fire
on a cold autumn day takes off the chill, as well as getting the hunting
clothes nice and smokey (good odour camouflage against the deer's
sensitive nose). The outhouse is a basic one seater, well
ventilated to minimize odours, and within 100 feet of the lodge.
Your hunting
guide/host/cook will assist in preparation of most meals, but each camp
member will be expected to prepare their personal favorites for one
breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Be sure to let us know any special
ingredients, food allergies, restrictions, etc. that you'll be needing
so we can be sure to adjust our shopping list.
There are 3 bedrooms in
the main lodge, each with a bunkbed (2 people on top, 2 on bottom bunk).
The beds in the lodge are double bed size bunk beds. Prices are
based on double occupancy (2 people to a double bed). Bring your
own sleeping bag and night cap as it can get cold at night after the
wood has burned out in the wood stove. |
